The Designer
Rafael Azevedo is a Portuguese designer based in London, recognised for his emotionally driven approach to both Womenswear and Menswear. Raised in a Madeiran family shaped by their multi ethnic background, his upbringing laid the foundation for a practice rooted in memory, heritage, and storytelling.
Upon completing college, at 18 he released his first collection, “Raizes” and organised his first campaign in Lisbon, Portugal . After moving to London to study at UAL, he released his second collection, “Amor Perdido” inspired by a sense of longing and the optimism that follows lost love. At age 19 he organised his first LFW show which lead him to the release of his most recent collection titled “O QUE FICA”, where at 20 he hosted his biggest LFW show yet, exploring themes of cyclical grief and the reality of loss.
Growing up surrounded by strong women: mothers; grandmothers; aunts; he became fascinated by the quiet symbolism embedded in everyday textiles. Crochet heirlooms, church lace, worn tailoring, garments kept for decades; they were archives of love, sacrifice, and survival. This realisation shaped the core of his brand.
Each collection begins with a story often drawn from lived experience exploring themes of displacement, longing, faith, shame, devotion, and generational memory. His work reflects the tension between fragility and strength: raw seams meet structured tailoring, distressed fabrics meet delicate lace.
Sustainability is central to his process. By working primarily with deadstock and vintage textiles, Rafael preserves materials that already carry history. Each garment ordered and made is unique to every client.
